This paper describes the rising of space science and the achievements in space physics and solar physics，space astronomy，lunar and planetary science，space geo-science，space life science and microgravity science.The main challenges in basic frontier of space science research have been mentioned.It is prospected that the discovery of space science in 21st century could get important knowledge leap in physics，life science，cosmological science and geo-science，and initiates a new science revolution.The science plan and recent mission of space science in China also have been introduced in this paper.The strategic importance of space science in forefront fundamental research has been expounded.It is emphasized that we should pay more attention to space science and take it as a breakthrough opportunity in cutting-edge research in China.
