Nobel Prize in Physics is awarded to those who have made significant contribution to the field.In 2014，three scientists working on 3rdgeneration semiconductor material were granted the prize for their achievement in obtaining blue LEDs which are a promising candidate for artificial light source.The efficiency of the devices benefits from a series of their scientific discoveries including the approach to reaching high hole concentration，double heterostructure of nitrides and Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition（MOCVD）technique for nitrides epitaxial growth.The discoveries successfully lead to the invention of GaN based light source and the conception of solid state lighting which promotes the formation of industrial chain and sustainable development of 3rdgeneration semiconductor.
